Munari Wines Reviews

Munari has excellent finish in wine show

Bendigo Advertiser, 7 Aug 2010

A Heatchcote winery described as outstanding by wine expert James Halliday has won the Wine of the Year awards at the Federation Square Wine Showcase.
Munari Wines was awarded the distinguished prize for its 2006 Beauregard Shiraz.
Owner & wine maker Adrian Munari took over the winery with his wide Deborah in 1992.

He said the Heathcote region was producing some of the best shiraz in Australia, as well as becoming internationally recognised.

Head judge Ron Leslie congratulated the winners and described Victoria as having an amazing number of micro-climates and soil types -or, as the French say, terroir - which means it can produce an intriguing range of wines.

The awards were the culmination of the Federation Square Wine Showcase series.
A public tasting is held each month with wines from a different region each time.

Munari wine is best of the bunch

Country News, 9 Aug 2010

Heathcote winemaker Adrian Munari said he was "a bit shocked" and quite humbled when Munari Wines won the Wine of the Year award at the 2010 Fed Square Wine Showcase last week with its 2006 The Beauregard Shiraz.

"It's good to win on home ground," Mr Munari, who also struck gold last year with a win for the family winery's shiraz viognier in China, said.

"This whole thing's been terrific for Heathcote, a good reinforcement of what we are doing up here."

Mr Munari said stocks of The Beauregard were low and the wine was now only available at the cellar door at a cost of $35.

Judging of the 45 finalists and more than 70 wines was by some of Australia's leading wine experts including Ron Leslie, Roy Moorfield, Elizabeth Woods, Victoria Sharples and Ralph Kyte-Powell.

Head judge Ron Leslie congratulated the winners and agreed with Mr Munari's comments.

Hidden treasures- Munari, Heathcote

Ben Canaider, 25 Aug 2009

With Adrian Munari, one is struck by his hands-on approach, the emphasis placed on low yields and low irrigation and the way the wines display a great sense of place. The reds seemed rustic, yet are also underpinned by concentration and structure. The range isn't too large, but the 2006 Ladys Pass Shiraz ($45) typifies this winery's expression of Heathcote the best. Oh, the Schoolhouse Red ($30) – a regional blend – can be a belter, too.
