Debuting as No. 37 with the Carlton Football Club, he went on to play 41 games in total including the 1968 premiership where he wore the No. 8 guernsey. Described as a ‘very popular clubman’, he captained and coached Hobart in 1971, played 13 games with North Melbourne Football Club and became the President of the Carlton Past Players Association.
