‘Ladys Pass’ Shiraz

2018 | $45 Bottle | $540 case

Our flagship Shiraz, rated 95 points, is a classic example of Adrian Munari’s elegant and structural style of winemaking. The Ladys Pass is a beautifully aromatic wine with layers of blackberry, red currant, blackcurrent, raspberry liquorice and warm wood. The fruit is supported with a subtle and well integrated use of oak which rounds out the mouthfeel and increases the aromatics of the wine. This is a medium to full bodied Shiraz with delicate red and dark fruit on the palate and a trademark light spice with sweet fruit palate and a nuance of port jelly. With a long and delicate finish this is an elegant and well finessed, food friendly wine.

“Unlike some Heathcote makers, Munari does not do formidable or statuesque. Its raison d'être is far more egalitarian. In a good year like 2018, Lady's Pass shines with utter approachability and fruit-forward expression that celebrates the quality of its fruit. Finely perfumed, flavoured and velvety textured, it shows another side to the region's favourite grape.” Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion. Published August 2021

2021 'Ladys Pass' Shiraz
$50.00

Our flagship Shiraz, rated 95 points, is a classic example of Adrian Munari’s elegant and structural style of winemaking. The Ladys Pass is a beautifully aromatic wine with layers of blackberry, blackcurrent, cooked plums and warm wood. The fruit is supported with a subtle and well integrated use of oak which rounds out the mouthfeel and increases the aromatics of the wine. This is a full bodied Shiraz due to hot vintage conditions, with delicate red and dark fruit on the palate and trademark black olive and spice on the palate with just a nuance of port jelly.

”This is the other side of Heathcote shiraz, the finer side, the perfumed, velvety textured side that comes fully formed upon release. Intense dark colour. Ripe fruits gather on the bouquet: black cherry and plum with an equally dark collection of anise and nutmeg spices. Intrinsically elegant, the wine moves with poise across the palate, even and balanced.”
